Sarah Doyle Twitter Hour

The Athena Network host a weekly Twitter Hour on Monday’s from 8-9pm. To get involved with the chat you are able to follow by using the hashtag #Athenabizhour.

Each week will feature an expert in their field. They will be available to answer your questions around their profession, and to offer fabulous advice and tips, that you can transfer to your own businesses.

It is also a great opportunity to connect with fellow members, Regional Directors and visitors from around the UK and beyond.

On Monday April 25th 2016 we were joined by Sarah Doyle of Cedar BSS who starred as our ‘Outsourcing & Streamlining Expert’.

OutsourcingBelow is a summary of Sarah’s #AthenaBizHour

Tip: aim at minimal wording but maximum impact. Use links to your #blogs so people can choose to read more #AthenaBizHour

Tip: Have set times in the day to check e-mails. Deal with important stuff and file the rest for later #AthenaBizHour

Tip: Make lists! This will help you to #delegate effectively. #Notepad or #on-line, whatever suits you #AthenaBizHour
-A great on-line task manager is Asana. It’s free to a point and fine for most SME’s

Cedar BSSTip: Meet with a few ‘experts’ before deciding who to #outsource to. All have different backgrounds and personalities.

Tip: Think about your #strengths and what you find a #challenge. #Outsource the challenges and stick to what you are good at.

Tip: Don’t expect miracles when #outsourcing. It can take time for #businesses to #sync and learn to work in tandem

Cedar BSS 2What perception do you have of #outsourcing? Myth has it that it is expensive but it doesn’t have to be.

When thinking of #outsourcing remember #cleaners #gardeners #dogwalkers etc. It is all relative

Lists will keep you focused and help you plan your time effectively

Have you got #processes in your #business? These are a must for all of your #sales #marketing #customerservice activities

Cedar BSS 3#Outsourcing will free your energies to focus on building your #brand. Allow yourself to get back to what you do best.

I’d be interested to know what is the most common outsourced task?

E-mail management is high on the list, as well as data-mining. I also work a lot with #newsletters and sales

That makes perfect sense. Email can be a distractor for an entrepreneur, best to outsource

Cedar BSS 4I am just dipping into the realms of xero. Have a lovely accountant but want to regularly see what’s what, is it ok?

I help a few clients keeping on top of their paperwork who use #Xero. It’s very intuative, I like it.

What Athena Members Say …

Nicky Fitzmaurice

"Athena Networking has been the making of me! I have made more friends and learnt more about business tools and networking strategy in the last year than I ever thought possible. Athena’s focus on training members to be the best that they can be, whilst in a supportive and nurturing environment, gave me the confidence to learn and grow which in turn allowed my business to do the same. It is this, that is the heart of Athena. No hard sell amongst the members, we encourage one another to help where we can. I always come away from a meeting inspired and bubbling with ideas on how to grow my business. It’s a fabulous way to live, learn and grow. Nicky Fitzmaurice

Selena Ludick

“The Athena network can be distinguished from any other networking group I attend. Its structure and form mean that members who attend are committed and dedicated to proactive networking which on turn achieves tangible results.  This benefits me and my firm,  in just a two  hour monthly meeting I have the opportunity to talk to other business women about me, my business and what I need and how I can be helped.  The environment for delivering this is focused and professional. As a result referrals are made and recommendations given which, for me achieves increased clients and in turn builds greater contacts.  As a busy business women Athena also provides a forum to connect with other business women on a social / friendship basis so “all work and no play does not make this Jill a dull girl” Athena motivates me, strengthens my vision, equips and endorses me but most of all provides the fuel every business women needs to keep raising her game and stepping up to the mark.”

Working mostly on my own, I really appreciate the positive camaraderie of the Athena women. Whatever need or concern one has, there is always someone able, and enthusiastically willing, to help with good advice. I find the interaction tremendously stimulating and enjoyable - and highly instructive. A wonderful group to see regularly, with excellent opportunities to meet other interesting and skilled women at training days. Thank you Athena!
