‘Planning For Open Networking’ Twitter Hour

The Athena Network host a weekly Twitter Hour on Monday’s from 8-9pm. To get involved with the chat you are able to follow by using the hashtag #Athenabizhour.

Each week will feature an expert in their field or a focused Networking & Strategy Topic . It is a fabulous forum to ask and answer each others questions around the topic or profession, share advice tips and testimonials.

It is also a great opportunity to connect with fellow members, Regional Directors and visitors from around the UK and beyond.

The topic for this weeks #AthenaBizHour was ‘Amplification’ and was inspired by this online article: http://nymag.com/thecut/2016/09/heres-how-obamas-female-staffers-made-their-voices-heard.html

Below are a selection of highlights from a very popular subject

What is amplification? What do we mean by it?

@networkbarefoot I gave a deep rooted passion for championing female entrepreneurship which makes it easy to #amplify

@PinpointMktg networking seems natural to a lot of women. I think a main reason is our genuine want to help and nurture

@Networkbarefoot Yes and in the context of networking I think of #amplification as proactively paying it forward and sharing

@PinpointMktg exactly! #amplification is good business karma eg what goes around comes around

@Networkbarefoot Take bold, bodacious steps and #amplify women in business

@Colourfirst Yay!! I love spreading the love & supporting other women in biz. Busy doing that today in the school playground!!

@Networkbarefoot #amplify and raise the profile of women-led by businesses

@Networkbarefoot Start to #amplify women-owned business; how? Talk about them!

@LoveYoutrition Evening! Every opportunity on radio & in person I give big wow out to @AthenaNetwork &

@PinpointMktg. My way of thank u

@Colourfirst Me too, Sonia. Have visited a number of other groups, nothing beats @AthenaNetwork -it’s unique

@LoveYoutrition Means shouting out to amazing ladies who give value/support/expertise/positive energy etc. #SpreadTheWord #AthenaBizHour

@Networkbarefoot Social #amplification is easy! Pay if forward this evening with a share, a tweet, a post #AthenaBizHour

@LoredanaBaranga A very interesting topic tonight. First time I hear about #amplification in this context.

@Networkbarefoot Thank you! Did not occur to me until @katbyles flagged up the article. Lots to think about

@Networkbarefoot For me it is two things; 1) repetition of ideas and knowledge so that women get the attrition #AthenaBizHour 2) Pay if forward

What do you think is the best way to #amplify a female entrepreneur and her business?

@AthenaNorthOx word of mouth referals is my preferred choice to amplify my business #happyclients

@PinpointMktg Agreed. Referrals and recommendations and sharing her posts, articles to interested parties

What I love about the members in #AthenaNetwork is how willing they are to #amplify and ensure their peers get credit

How could you make it easy to have someone #amplify you?

@PinpointMktg share what you do online so someone can copy and paste it when referring or #amplifying

@LoveYoutrition Give great service, be authentic & reliable. Make it easy to amplify you by giving your best

@AthenaNorthOx During 1-2-1’s being clear on how you would like someone to refer new clients to you I think is helpful #clearcalltoaction

@Networkbarefoot #amplify to me means I ensure that the correct attrition is given i.e. using a quote or mentioning sentence in a book #brag

@PinpointMktg copying or quoting someone is one of the highest forms of complimenting I would say #amplify

@Colourfirst Which is why I love #twitter! Re-tweeting allows you to #amplify and #endorse someone else’s message

#amplify the profile of women entrepreneurs and their businesses by choosing to mention at least one daily

@AthenaNorthOx I carry a small businesscard holder with all my @AthenaNorthOx members cards in to pass on to any potential referals

It is easy to #amplify women in business when you belong to a network; true or false?

@AthenaNorthOx So true, with commitment to building relationships, listening and learning from each other

@LoredanaBaranga True, more so when the #network makes you feel like home.

@PinpointMktg true! Being in a network enables conversations & enhances opportunities that may not of happened! #amplify

@AthenaNetworkMK Absolutely true. When you’re invested in those ladies, & their success, it’s really easy.

@Colourfirst True. It becomes second nature once you’re in the networking swing of things.

@son_number1 True because we share same values, aspirations & trust each other. Trust vital to being able to amplify

RBS calculated that boosting female entrepreneurship could deliver approx £60bn extra to the UK economy! #AthenaBizHour worth it to #amplify

What Athena Members Say …

Nicky Fitzmaurice

"Athena Networking has been the making of me! I have made more friends and learnt more about business tools and networking strategy in the last year than I ever thought possible. Athena’s focus on training members to be the best that they can be, whilst in a supportive and nurturing environment, gave me the confidence to learn and grow which in turn allowed my business to do the same. It is this, that is the heart of Athena. No hard sell amongst the members, we encourage one another to help where we can. I always come away from a meeting inspired and bubbling with ideas on how to grow my business. It’s a fabulous way to live, learn and grow. Nicky Fitzmaurice www.satinpaperbacks.com

Selena Ludick

“The Athena network can be distinguished from any other networking group I attend. Its structure and form mean that members who attend are committed and dedicated to proactive networking which on turn achieves tangible results.  This benefits me and my firm,  in just a two  hour monthly meeting I have the opportunity to talk to other business women about me, my business and what I need and how I can be helped.  The environment for delivering this is focused and professional. As a result referrals are made and recommendations given which, for me achieves increased clients and in turn builds greater contacts.  As a busy business women Athena also provides a forum to connect with other business women on a social / friendship basis so “all work and no play does not make this Jill a dull girl” Athena motivates me, strengthens my vision, equips and endorses me but most of all provides the fuel every business women needs to keep raising her game and stepping up to the mark.”

Working mostly on my own, I really appreciate the positive camaraderie of the Athena women. Whatever need or concern one has, there is always someone able, and enthusiastically willing, to help with good advice. I find the interaction tremendously stimulating and enjoyable - and highly instructive. A wonderful group to see regularly, with excellent opportunities to meet other interesting and skilled women at training days. Thank you Athena!
