Leadership Twitter Hour

The Athena Network host a weekly Twitter Hour on Monday’s from 8-9pm. To get involved with the chat you are able to follow by using the hashtag #Athenabizhour.

Each week will feature an expert in their field or a focused Networking & Strategy Topic . It is a fabulous forum to ask and answer each others questions around the topic or profession, share advice tips and testimonials.

It is also a great opportunity to connect with fellow members, Regional Directors and visitors from around the UK and beyond.

This week we had a focused topic on Leadership. There were was so much great content, here is a selection below;

Leadership is...It’s been a long week in politics. Made me think a lot about leadership. What does that word mean to you? @Networkbarefoot

Yes what a week! leadership to me is being accountable for your actions and leading by example!@emmaseddon

Being clear, focused, reliable, understand your team, acknowledge strengths, support weaker areas

@emmaseddon I absolutely agree! Follow through on a promise no matter how difficult it is #AthenaBizHour Honour the word.

But could leadership also mean be brave enough to admit getting it wrong & changing direction? @mumpreneursclub

Yes! A #leader would do that despite how it may look for them @Networkbarefoot

Listening, making difficult decisions, being concerned about people.@August_safety

leadership is about helping others to lead themselves and get results. @AthenaCSurrey
-Leaders leading leaders … love that!

It means thinking about taking on some of these new roles that have just become available & doing something about it @AthenaBristol

Leadership makes me think of who is in charge? Who has the ultimate responsibility. @PinpointMktg

Good point . We don’t always get things right but important to admit, adjust, move forward. @mumspreneursclub

Trust, Integrity, Loyalty, Inspiration and of course Respect @AthenaWarks
-Love those. The same and bringing love, joy and a deep transformation to business

Be the kind of leaderWe think vision, a plan and leading by example which means behaving with integrity. @mumpreneursclub

Do you think it is possible to #leadwithlove ? Not fluffy but fierce … like a mother @networkbarefoot

Absolutely! Protection, pride, nurture and delight in seeing growth @athenaWarks

If you let go of all the beliefs of what a leader should be how would you then behave?

With integrity. Leaders in all areas I admire most have all had integrity. Very underrated these days @LoveYoutrition

Leadership comes in all forms, but I always say to treat people how you would like to be treated. @PinpointMktg

Leadership is having the ability to carry on even when the going gets tough

Making difficult decisions is an important part of leadership @networkbarefoot
– but deciding is the key element. Whether you do or you don’t you must decide, preferably quickly @AthenaBristol
-Truth! Nothing to do but action to take. Decision made now take action

They require big girl pants & huge dollop of brave. Making them = leadership, not = caretaking @mumpreeursclub

Popular topic this evening ladies. If you could choose one person to be your leadership mentor who would it be?

-From the past it would have to be Anita Roddick. She inspired a peaceful, commercial revolution @SaraGuiel
-Old Head, Sister Margaret at Convent. Amazing woman, put us all first always. was warrior @LoveYOUtrition
-One of mine would be Winston Churchill; “when you are going through hell keep going”

Who are the best female role models around you..? @YuzuUK
-My fellow #athena members without doubt. I also have 2 friends in particular who #inspire me hugely @CedarBSS
-Probably my Athena ladies! All pulling together to build each other up. Inspiring LoveYOUtrition
-too true, I’m lifted up after every meeting @YuzuUK
-Yup! Plus am able to make long overdue life changes because of the support and way I now view myself @LoveYOUtrition
—Love this!! The power of #athena is immense
-So true. I’ve made some life changing decisions since I joined @AugustSafety
-Very true. the meetings make you think, take stock, plan and be IN the business not just on it @PinpointMktg
-It is. I am now leader in my life! Everyone happier as not drifting. Focused & clear

What Athena Members Say …

Nicky Fitzmaurice

"Athena Networking has been the making of me! I have made more friends and learnt more about business tools and networking strategy in the last year than I ever thought possible. Athena’s focus on training members to be the best that they can be, whilst in a supportive and nurturing environment, gave me the confidence to learn and grow which in turn allowed my business to do the same. It is this, that is the heart of Athena. No hard sell amongst the members, we encourage one another to help where we can. I always come away from a meeting inspired and bubbling with ideas on how to grow my business. It’s a fabulous way to live, learn and grow. Nicky Fitzmaurice www.satinpaperbacks.com

Selena Ludick

“The Athena network can be distinguished from any other networking group I attend. Its structure and form mean that members who attend are committed and dedicated to proactive networking which on turn achieves tangible results.  This benefits me and my firm,  in just a two  hour monthly meeting I have the opportunity to talk to other business women about me, my business and what I need and how I can be helped.  The environment for delivering this is focused and professional. As a result referrals are made and recommendations given which, for me achieves increased clients and in turn builds greater contacts.  As a busy business women Athena also provides a forum to connect with other business women on a social / friendship basis so “all work and no play does not make this Jill a dull girl” Athena motivates me, strengthens my vision, equips and endorses me but most of all provides the fuel every business women needs to keep raising her game and stepping up to the mark.”

Working mostly on my own, I really appreciate the positive camaraderie of the Athena women. Whatever need or concern one has, there is always someone able, and enthusiastically willing, to help with good advice. I find the interaction tremendously stimulating and enjoyable - and highly instructive. A wonderful group to see regularly, with excellent opportunities to meet other interesting and skilled women at training days. Thank you Athena!
